Individual Psychotherapy Services
For individual psychotherapy you spend one-on-one time with the psychotherapist. Call, e-mail, or stop by for an appointment.
A free thirty minute initial consultation is available.
The free initial consultation is where you and the psychotherapist determine if this counseling relationship is a good fit. You and the psychotherapist will decide about future sessions, and plan to complete the initial paperwork at the beginning of your first session. Regular sessions can occur twice a week to once a month depending on your needs. Peak to Peak Counseling charges $90 for a 50 minute individual session. We do not accept insurance, however receipts for out-of-network insurance reimbursement can be provided upon request. Sliding scale is offered on a limited, as-needed basis. A sliding scale is an adjusted fee depending on your individual financial circumstances. Please mention your interest in the sliding scale at your initial consultation or when your financial situation changes.
ADULTS
Traditionally adult individual psychotherapy is only yourself and the psychotherapist. However, if at some time you decide it would be helpful to bring in someone else for a few sessions - spouse or partner, child, teen, relative or friend - this is always an option.
COUPLES
Traditionally couples psychotherapy consists of both members of the couples meeting consistently with the psychotherapist.
However sometimes it can be helpful for one or both members of the couple to work individually with the psychotherapist. Depending on your specific situation, we will create a schedule that works to your benefit as individuals and as a couple.
Additionally, know that you always have the option to bring in someone else for a few sessions - a child or teen, relative or friend - to work on a specific issue.
CHILDREN & TEENS
Who specifically attends the psychotherapy sessions is very individualized for children and teens. For the initial consultation, some clients prefer to bring many people: parents and step parents, child or teen, siblings and step siblings. Other clients choose a few key people to attend.
As you spend time in psychotherapy it becomes clear how to proceed. For example, after the initial session a teen may come by her- or himself. Or for a child, one parent may consistently bring the child to psychotherapy while the other parent only comes for specific sessions.
Flexibility is the key to determining the best fit for your family.
FAMILIES
Who specifically attends the psychotherapy sessions is very individualized for families. For the initial consultation, some families prefer to bring many people: all adults and children in the immediate family, other people living in the home, or other people closely involved with the family. Other families choose a few key people to attend.
As you spend time in psychotherapy it becomes clear how to proceed. For example after the initial session you and the psychotherapist might decide that it would be helpful if two children spend some one-on-one time with the psychotherapist for two sessions, and then bring in the other family members for future sessions.
Flexibility is the key to determining the best fit for your family.
We also offer group psychotherapy services.
